1. you are ready to commit 100% to being coached and walked through the steps you need to take to help baby learn great sleep skills.
2. you are ready to have your baby sleep independently in their own sleep space.
3. your baby is healthy and gaining weight appropriately. (If your baby has any underlying health issues, I recommend getting the ok from your pediatrician prior to engaging in sleep training.)
4. you are able to give your baby permission to cry when they are frustrated during training. (I DO NOT advocate for the cry-it-out training method, However, every baby I’ve worked with has a few days of frustration when a new normal is introduced. I always allow parents to be present with baby to the degree they feel is necessary while baby learns these skills.)
5. you have other caregivers on board with this new sleep structure. (Daycare situations can vary in their degree of willingness to accommodate your requests. But it’s important that all caregivers in your home follow the same practices consistently with baby.)
6. you are committed to attending the daily coaching Q & A meetings that will provide you with the encouragement, expertise and adjustments that you might need to make throughout your process.
1. you are the type of person who will want to make adjustments and alterations to the specific sleep plan that I will provide for you, -OR - you will want to combine other information you’ve learned about sleep training practices and add them to what is recommended in my coaching process.
2. you still want to maintain some level of co-sleeping or contact napping in the future.
3. your baby struggles significantly with reflux or any other health issue that interrupts their ability to eat or sleep well.
4. you are not willing to tolerate a reasonable level of crying and protest while the baby learns their new skills.
5. you are unable to secure consistency in their new sleep structures with other adults who will be caring for the baby. (This will cause confusion for the baby and make it almost impossible for them to understand what’s expected and to settle into a new normal.)
6. You will want to attempt to use the sleep plan provided and work through it independently, apart from the support offered at the daily coaching meetings.
So if, after reading through these checklists, you feel this is the plan for you, then I’m thrilled to invite you into this life-changing journey!
Take heart, Momma. There is a light at the end of this very exhausting tunnel!
